A structured questionnaire consisting of questions based on knowledge, attitude and clinical practice were distributed among the general dentists of age range between fifteen to fifty years through means of electronic media and other means of communication such as personal emails etc. The questionnaire held a total of 23 questions in which 7 questions were knowledge based, 7 questions to check the attitude of the general dentists and 9 questions based on the practice followed by them. The questionnaires were distributed to General dentists. 155 responses were collected. The survey data was then collected together and analysed. More than 60% of the general dentists have adequate knowledge in determining working length.Yet, the practice seems to be different among the dentists in determining working length. Awareness has to be created among the general dentists about the influence of working length determination in prognosis of root canal therapy .The concept of apex locators should be considered as adjunct to Radiographic methods in determining working length has to be emphasised among the practitioners.
