Knowledge and Awareness About Uses Of Dental Surveyors Among Dental Students- A Survey

Author: KIRAN KANNAN, DHANRAJ GANAPATHY, VIVEK NARAYAN
Abstract: The Dental surveyor is a commonly used paralleling instrument when it comes to construction of a prosthesis to locate and delineate the contours and relative positions of abutment teeth and associated structures. It is specifically for use in prosthodontics and was made commercially available in the year 1921. This survey is focused on understanding the knowledge and awareness about the use of dental surveyors among the UG students of Saveetha dental college. A survey questionnaire of 15 questions was prepared on an online survey platform and distributed among Undergraduate students. The responses were collected and tabulated to obtain the results. From the results obtained we can conclude that even though a maximum percentage of the students have sound knowledge about basic principles of a surveyor, most of them don't know how to use a surveyor.
