CBCT imaging provides three dimensional volumetric data construction of dental and associated maxillofacial structures. To provide guidance on CBCT imaging, national and international groups have given evidence based guidelines, one such project being the SEDENTEXCT guidelines. The aim of the study was to conduct a survey amongst dental postgraduates on the knowledge and attitude towards International guidelines and clinical use of CBCT.120 post graduate students were assessed using a 21 point questionnaire at Saveetha Dental College from November 2019 to December 2019.The results of the study were compiled and expressed in frequencies and percentages. Out of the obtained 100 responses, 68 were female and 32 were male. 54% of students belonged to the 20-25 years age group followed by 25-30 years(44%). 53% of the students answered that the commonest reason for advising a CBCT image is for implant planning followed by 24% for impacted tooth locations. 82% of the students did not know that there were evidence based SEDENTEXCT guidelines for prescribing CBCT imaging. CBCT has profound potential in dentistry and entails a risk to the patient as it uses ionizing radiation.Knowledge about the guidelines for appropriate use of CBCT in dental practice must be practiced.
