Knowledge, Awareness, and Practice of 3D printing in the field of conservative dentistry and Endodontics

Abstract: The study aims at assessing the knowledge, awareness, and practice of 3d printing in the field of conservative and endodontic dentistry among students attending a private dental college. there has been a rise in tooth loss and root canal treatments over the past few years, in order to return the tooth to its former form and function, dental prosthetics are used. This study was designed around a questionnaire assessing knowledge, awareness, and practices in 3D printing. An online platform - google forms was used to prepare the survey, the link of the survey was distributed to the volunteers using convenience sampling and snowball sampling methods. The data was collected, tabulated in excel sheets, and analyzed using the SPSS software. The study reveals a 75% awareness rate on 3D printing, It was observed that amongst the volunteers the prevalence of its use was 61%, further is was noted that, with regards to 3D printing, 38% consider accuracy and 26% consider its ease of use to be properties that make 3D printing superior to other technologies The study reveals the current trends with regards to 3D printing technology as implemented in the field of dentistry, it can be summarized that although an overall acceptable awareness rate was present among the volunteers there is a hesitance in using this emerging technology.
