Dental anxiety plays a major role in the treatment part of pediatric dentistry. Dental anxiety is commonly seen associated with subsequent dental visits. The aim of this study was to assess the dental anxiety in school children during endodontic treatment for primary teeth. This was a picture based study with a sample size of 100 subjects, of the age group 6-10 years. Dental anxiety was assessed using the Modified Venham Picture Test and Modified Child Dental Anxiety Scale and measured at three intervals- before, during, and after the endodontic procedure. From this study, 73 children had a score of 0 with no anxiety according to the venham picture scale scores whereas 69 children had a score of 1 showing no anxiety during the treatment, according to the modified dental scale scores, thereby proving that children had no anxiety during the endodontic treatment of primary teeth. Therefore, it can be concluded that any one of these anxiety rating scales can be used to measure dental anxiety, as they can accurately assess the emotions of the children using various pictures on the anxiety scale.
