Introduction
The meningo orbital foramen is located in the greater wing of the sphenoid and near the lateral end of the superior orbital fissure, communicating orbit with the middle cranial fossa and allowing the passage of an anastomosis between the ophthalmic and middle meningeal arteries. The meningo-orbital foramen is an opening which may present in the posterosuperior part of the lateral wall of orbit and lateral to superior orbital fissure in middle cranial fossa. The incidence of the meningo-orbital foramen is variable in different reports. The aim of the present study is to analyse the incidence of meningo orbital foramen in dry south Indian skulls and its clinical significance.
Materials and Methods:
The study was done on 51 adult dry human skulls from the collection of skulls of unknown age from the Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental college and Hospitals. The skulls were observed and analysed.
Conclusion:
The present study thus concluded that the knowledge of occurrence of meningo orbital foramen is very much needed for anatomical studies and various clinical procedures.
