The sacrum is a large wedge shaped vertebra at the inferior end of the spine. It forms the solid base of the spinal column where it intersects with the hip bones to form the pelvis. The sacrum is a very strong bone that supports the weight of the upper body as it is spread across the pelvis and into the leg. Sacrum has always been a area of interest when it comes to sex determination as it contibutes to establish the sex differences with refernces to the pelvic girlde. The current study focuses on sex determination establishment of sexualdimorphism between the two genders with referens to the sacral hiatus. Material of the study consisted of 30 dry adult human sacral bones that were obtained from saveetha dental college. The shape of the hiatus, the diameter, the distance between the crests were recorded and the sum were calculated to get the mean value to compare between male and female. Sacral hiatus showed morphometric variations, the most common variant is inverted V and U in males and inverted V and dumbbell shaped in females.
