Knowledge Among the Indian Dentist on Regenerative Endodontics in The Management of Open Apex A Cross-Sectional Questionnaire Survey

Regenerative endodontic procedures (REPS) have been defined as biologically based procedures designed to replace damaged structures such as dentin,root structures and cells of pulp dentin complex .This study aims to assess and evaluate the knowledge of dental professionals on regenerative endodontics in the management of open apex .A cross –sectional survey was conducted among dental professionals in south india,in the month of October, 2019.The questionnaire consisted of 18 questions and was structured under the headings of knowledge,attitude and practice.The questionnaire was distributed among the general dental practitioners , Endodontists and other speciality dentists via google forms and responses were collected.A total of 316 responses were collected and all the data is compiled and tabulated in Microsoft Excel and exported to IBM SPSS 20.Results were represented through Bar charts and Chi square tests were performed for the comparison between the type of practitioners..The General practitioners ,Endodontist and other speciality dentists have variable opinions on most of the protocols.Application of regenerative endodontics in day to day practice needs more awareness among the dentists.Most of the practitioners know about the option of regenerative endodontics but fail to use them in their practice.Awareness should be created among the practitioners to use regenerative mode of therapy for management of open apex.
