The aim of this prospective randomised controlled split-mouth clinical trial study is to compare the patient comfort by the usage of the modified cheek retractor and normal cheek retractor in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. This study was done on 30 subjects who reported to the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics for correction of the malocclusion. A questionnaire was prepared in Google Forms to assess the pain and discomfort by numerical rating scale(NRS) of the patients who underwent bonding procedure with the cheek retractors and their responses were recorded and tabulated. Descriptive Statistics and a Pearson's Chi-square test were performed using SPSS software. Pearson's Chi-square test was used to compare the values obtained by the numerical rating scale(NRS) (Pearson Chi-Square- 14.26, p-value-0.027, P value < 0.05, significant). Our study results show that the modification of cheek retractor was more comfortable to the patient than conventional retractor while doing orthodontic bonding procedure.
