Constipation has diverse meanings for different individuals. Medical personnel define constipation as less than 3 bowels movement per week. Constipation is caused due to lack of fibers and water. During defecation, strain may cause an increase in blood pressure. Chronic constipation is either caused by slow colonic transit or pelvic floor dysfunctioning, and treatment defers accordingly. The main aim of this study is to estimate blood pressure between healthy and constipated individuals. The study was conducted among 40 individuals. Group I consisting of normal individuals and group II consisting of constipation individuals. Blood pressure was recorded and analysed by statistics. Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure was found to be high in constipation individuals when compared to normal healthy individuals. Paired t test was done. Systolic BP was found to significant (p value: 0.00) and Diastolic BP was found to significant (p value: 0.00). Based on this study, constipation individuals have higher blood pressure than normal individuals. This study may help people to be aware about the relation between constipation and blood pressure.
