A mother’s diet heavily reflects upon the health of the baby. Many essential nutrients get left out due to ignorance and lack of awareness. This study attempts to figure out how much knowledge Indian females of the age group 35-55, who have had children, have about the role of food components and their intake during lactation. This was a survey based study conducted on the online platform surveyplanet.com. It was sent to 50 women who have undergone lactation, through Whatsapp®. The information collected through the survey was represented using proper statistical methods. Out of the 100 women who took the survey, 31 had 3-5 meals per day during the period of lactation. 34% women did not know that vitamin B12 supplements were essential during pregnancy and lactation. Only 50% of women said that their doctor provided enough information about diet requirements, the rest were not sure. 88% women were aware about the fact that not taking iron supplements can render them prone to iron-deficiency anemia. Thus it can be concluded that there is a moderate level of awareness among mothers about the food diet necessary during lactation.
