Partial edentulous can be defined as missing one or multiple teeth whereas completely edentulous refers to complete loss of teeth in a single or both dental arch. Loss of teeth can be due to multifactorial causes and it has been one of the most common issues regardless of the age of the patients. The solution for partially edentulous patients could be either by replacement of teeth with removable prosthesis or fixed prosthesis. This study aims at analysing the various impression techniques used in fixed partial denture. We reviewed 86,000 patient records and it was found out that 848 patients matched the inclusion criteria. Chi square test was done for statistical analysis and the association between various impression techniques and number of missing teeth was found to be statistically not significant with p value>0.05. Within the limit of our study, it can be concluded that two step putty wash was the most popular impression technique used by most of the dental students. Males and populations aged 35-55 years old had higher prevalence for fixed partial denture. Multiple replacement could be the most common reason for fixed partial denture.
