Healthy Pregnancy Preparation through Pre-marital Guidance Model on Prospective Brides

Background: The quality of a marriage is determined by the readiness and maturity of the prospective brides in facing togetherness life. The high number of marriages in Indonesia that reach an average of 2 (two) million pairs per year needs to get special attention. One of them is the guidance of health problems especially healthy pregnancy preparation to give birth to a generation of strong and qualified nation.
Objectives: Deeply digging on healthy pregnancy preparation efforts with pre-marital guidance model on prospective brides in religious affairs office (KUA) district of Borobudur at Magelang Regency
Methods: This research used the qualitative descriptive method study. The research informants are 16 pairs of prospective brides, 3 people of religious counseling from the KUA, 3 people health promotion officers, and 3 family planning field officers (PLKB). The collection of data using indepth interviews and Focus Group Discussion continued by an analysis using inductive techniques.
Research results: This study identifies nine themes i.e. 1) the implementation of pre-marital guidance; 2) material that has been provided during pre-marital guidance; 3) The level of the prospective brides knowledge about healthy pregnancy preparation; 4) Health materials that need to be given to prospective brides to prepare a healthy pregnancy; 5) The most appropriate method of conveying health material about healthy pregnancy preparations; 6) The most appropriate media in delivering health materials about healthy pregnancy preparations; 7) Barriers to conveying health materials about healthy pregnancy preparations; 8) How to overcome obstacles in conveying health material about healthy pregnancy preparation; and 9) Appropriate pre-marital guidance model in healthy pregnancy preparation efforts. The KUA, Health center and PLKB, as well as other related sectors is suggested to coordinate in providing pre-marital guidance to the prospective brides in the effort to prepare a whole prosperous family and to create the next generation of qualified nation
