Histological changes in the liver, intestines and kidneys of Clarias gariepinus when using feed with chelated compounds

Abstract: This paper presents experimental data on the effect of organomineral chelate complexes at concentrations of 0.5, 1, 2 g/kg in feed on the organ and tissue systems of Clarias gariepinus. It was shown for the first time that feeding fish with food with different concentrations of chelate compounds can cause both disruption (2 g/kg) and restoration (1 g/kg) of organ tissues. The histological study showed that the liver and kidneys were the most sensitive of the studied organs to the effect of the organomineral supplement; the intestinal tissues, in turn, were less sensitive to the effect. The most pronounced histopathological changes in the organs of the catfish were: edema of the sinusoidal tubules, hyaline-drop degradation of the renal tubular epithelium, necrosis and necrobiosis of the parenchyma of the kidneys and liver. The maximum limiting concentrations of organomineral additives that do not cause toxic effects and stimulate the regeneration processes of liver hepatocytes were established. Since pathological changes were observed in all organs, a more accurate adjustment of the mineral component of chelate compounds and the selection of their concentration in feed are required, which requires further research.
