This research aimed to investigate the role of hospital effluent system in distribution of multiple antibiotic resistance Acinetobacter baumannii. Forty five isolates of A. baumannii were isolated from 100 samples of hospital effluent system of different hospital in Al-Najaf A-AshrafL Iraq and identified according to conventional methods and PCR technique using rpoB gene. Antibiotic resistance pattern revealed a high percentage of resistance to B-lactam, Cephalosporins, aminoglycoside, tetracycline and chloramphenicol. A wide distribution of ade IJK gene among A. baumannii was detect by PCR technique and a correlation between ade IJK and prevalence antibiotic resistance was found.
