Author: ALISSA AMANDA, ALIFAH TRIXIE AURORA HAKIM, SYANIA EDINDA FEBRIYANTI, ELSYA FIRLANA ALWIE, HASNA RUSYDA, NITA VANIA JULIANA, ARYO DWIPO KUSUMO
Abstract: Background: The percentage of smokers in Indonesia is still very high, especially among teenagers. The high rate of teenage smokers in Indonesia is considered not in accordance with the 2019 National Medium-Term Development Plan. The increasing prevalence of active smokers in adolescents also has an impact on increasing passive smokers in their teens. This is feared because passive smoking is associated with sleep disorders, which are related to the nicotine content in cigarettes. Research on the risk of sleep disorders in adolescent passive smokers has never been done in Surabaya. This is the background for us to conduct this research. Purpose: This study aims to determine the level of risk of sleep disorders in adolescent passive smokers in Surabaya. Methods: This study uses a simple random sampling method in 109 teenager aged 12-24 years in Surabaya. The data collection procedure that we use is to distribute questionnaires online with a google form link via social media aimed at adolescents who are willing to be sampled in this study with the criteria that have been requested. Results: Adolescents who are passive smokers are reported to have more frequent sleep disorders such as DIS, DMS, EMA, SIS, compared to adolescents who do not smoke and are not passive smokers. Conclusion: Based on research conducted, there is a relationship between sleep disorders and teenage passive smokers in Surabaya.
