Effectivity Difference With Of Powerpoint And Pop-Up Education Media In Dental Knowledge And Habit In Elementary School Students

Abstract: Background: The background of this study is the presence of dental and oral health problems in children in Indonesia which are experiencing an increase. According to the Indonesia Basic Health Survey (2013), an increase in dental and oral health problems in children aged 5-9 years was 28.9% and aged 10-14 years was 25.2%.1 Efforts to maintain oral health must be made early on, especially during elementary school which is the ideal time to practice motor skills in children. One effort to improve oral health is dental health education (DHE). Purpose: this study aims to analyze the comparison of the effectiveness of dental health education Powerpoint media and pop-up simulations of knowledge, behavior, and habits in maintaining oral health in grade 4 and 5 students of Yamastho Elementary School Surabaya. Method: This study is an experimental analytic study. Results: Based on the results of the nonparametric test it is known that the difference in the significance value between prestest and posttest in the Powerpoint group (? = 0,000) and in the pop up group (? = 0,000). Mann-Whitney U Test Results show an average value of powerpoint media difference of 4.52, while pop-up media is 4.96. Conclusion: The use of pop-up media has a higher effectiveness compared to Powerpoint media, but the difference in effectiveness between the two media it is not very significant.
