Author: SHREYA SVITLANA, RAGHU SANDHYA, JAIGANESH RAMAMURTHY
Abstract: The aim of the study was to assess the tooth with primary periodontal lesion requiring endodontic therapy. The retrospective study was conducted among patients who visited a private institution, Chennai. The patient records were reviewed and the data of patients who visited between June 2019 to March 2020 were analysed. 1130 patients with primary periodontal lesions were included in the study. Retrospective analysis was done based on the collected data. The data was entered in a methodical manner [serial number, name, age, gender, tooth number]. Statistical analysis was performed in the statistical software SPSS and data was analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. In this study we observed that 2.65% (30) of the patients with primary periodontal lesion required endodontic therapy post periodontal therapy. There was gender predilection towards females (56.66%). The requirement of endodontic therapy was higher in patients aged between 31 to 40 years 43.33% (13) with teeth affected by primary periodontal lesion. The teeth which were predominantly affected were maxillary 33.33% (10) and mandibular posterior teeth 33.33% (10). We observed that 2.65% of the patients with primary periodontal lesion required endodontic therapy post periodontal therapy
