The current study aimed to assess the prevalence of dental malocclusion in patients with attrition. The study was designed to be a retrospective study based on patient data. The study was conducted in Saveetha dental College, Chennai during the period of March 2020. Data was extracted from the record maintenance system of the college. The data was filtered based on patients presenting with attrition and 70 case reports between March 2019 -March 2020. The case sheets were assessed for the type of occlusal scheme and was noted. The data was tabulated in an Excel sheet and Descriptive statistics was performed followed by Chi-square test to analyse the correlation. The study revealed that attrition was commonly seen in the age group of 51-60 years[32.9%], followed by 31-40 years[24.3%]. 80% were males and 20% were females. Of the entire population of patients, those presenting with Angles Class I were the most associated with attrition. No statistically significant correlation between malocclusion, gender and age group was seen. Attrition is an irreversible wear of tooth structure, the etiology of which is considered to be multifactorial. It is of extreme importance to understand factors which could be minimized or avoided in totality to limit the full extent of wear.
