The study aims to measure the treatment duration in canine retraction in class I and class II malocclusion in adolescents with conventional molar anchorage. A sample comprising 78 subjects with class I and II malocclusion undergoing orthodontic treatment who reported to the Department of Orthodontics from June 2019 to March 2020 were selected. The study was conducted in April, 2020. Within the limits of this study, the mean and standard deviation for each group was calculated and an independent sample student T test was used to compare the means between the two groups. The mean duration of retraction in class I malocclusion was 4.43 months with a standard deviation of 0.88 months and duration of retraction of class II malocclusion treatment duration was 4.35 months with standard deviation of 0.62 months. Standard error of 0.14 was noted in class I retraction duration and 0.10 in class II retraction duration. No significant statistical difference was observed between the two groups (p=0.659). Within the limits of this study, the treatment duration in orthodontic retraction in Angles class I and class II malocclusion was determined. The limitations of the present study is that it is a retrospective cross sectional unicentric study done on a smaller section of the population. A prospective multicentric study on orthodontic retraction duration is the need of the hour.
