The aim of the study is to determine if there was any correlation between cleft lip individuals and incidence of gingival disease and its severity. A total of 89000 case sheets were reviewed from the dental treatment records for gingival health in children with and without cleft lip from June 2019 to March 2020. Inclusion criteria for case sample required patients to be above the age of 3 and below the age of 7 and with presence of cleft lip only. Final sample size taken for the study was 6 patients. Data was analysed using SPSS software and Mann-Whitney was done. The results showed that the children with cleft lip had a mean value of 1.06 for OHI score and the children without cleft lip had a mean value of 0.13 for the OHI score. Within the limitations of the present study, based on OHI-S index scores, children without cleft lip had better gingival status when compared to children with cleft lip.
