Zigbee based Condition Monitoring in AC Motors Using ATmega16

Author: M. AMUTHA, A.P. JAYA KRISHNA, S. RAMKUMAR, B. OVIYAA
Abstract: In this paper, a wireless monitoring system for AC motors is monitored using Zigbee technology. It is chosen because wired communication are expensive and have several problems related to physical conditions. One such important drawback behind wired communication is safety of humans. It causes several human hazards in general. This is the reason behind choosing Zigbee for safe and economic data communication in the field of industry. Zigbee technology has low cost of measuring. Four important parameters are given a set value priorily .In this work Current transformer, Potential transformer, MOC 7811 IR module and LM35 is used to sense the current, voltage, speed and temperature respectively. This temperature, current, voltage and speed of the motor are then compared with the set value, if the measured value exceeds the set value an alarm fixed at both ends of transmitter and receiver starts alarming. The values are continuously monitored by the ATmega16 microcontroller. This microcontroller has efficient performance when compared to other microcontroller in use. The main objective of is to find the defects before occurring by monitoring the real time values. Hence the results would show how the proposed system is less costly, reliable and is easily understandable to the person handling it.
