In this work, flower is identified based on its texture features. Flower identification is a hard task. It is very important for researchers to know which flower is used for medicinal purpose and those for other uses. Nerium oleander is a flower with many specialties and uses. In this system we have taken this Nerium oleander flower for better understanding its features and using them accordingly. Here we segment the flower using color threshold technique. After the background removal we detect the edges of the flower petals using canny edge detection. After the detection we tend to extract the features of the flowers based on texture feature. The features obtained in matrix form are used for classification, which is implemented using conventional classifier.
