Aim
This study was aimed to evaluate the in-vitro compatibility of mixing diclofenac sodium and dexamethasone sodium phosphate.
Material
Stability was assessed by HPLC methods were developed and validated according to international guidelines. The investigation performed by comparing the apparent peaks belongs to dexamethasone sodium phosphate and diclofenac sodium with peaks for a mixed solution. The investigation of the structure of dexamethasone and diclofenac by GC-MS (Shimadzu) was performed to determine the structural change after mixing.
Results
The rotation time of dexamethasone sodium phosphate were in 1.29, 2.18 and 3.28 minutes and for diclofenac, the rotation was at 3.99 minutes (Fig 1 and Fig 2). The rotation time of mixed solution was belonging to dexamethasone sodium phosphate plus diclofenac sodium as compared to a combination of figures (1) and (2). There was no additional peak that appeared for a mixed solution and that means no new compound was formed.
Conclusion: The combination of dexamethasone and diclofenac is safe to use with no recognized drug-drug interaction.
