Abstract:

The use of water bodies for various purposes, first of all, for drinking and domestic water supply of the population, production of electric power, provision of water and air transport activity, for irrigation of agricultural lands, rafting of wood, reception of discharged waste water, including drainage water, as well as for recreation and other purposes is provided by the Water Code of the Russian Federation and other by-laws and normative methodological documents.
Being a fundamental legal act in the sphere of natural water resources use, the Water Code of the Russian Federation regulates relations in the sphere of water use based on the idea of a water body as one of the key components of environment, habitat of water biological resources, specimens of flora and fauna. At the same time, priority is given to the use of human water bodies for drinking and domestic water supply, as well as regulates the use and protection of water bodies in Russia, taking into account the need of people for water resources for personal and domestic needs, for economic and other activities, determines the limitation or prohibition of use of some water bodies.
