Abstract: Modern foreign economic challenges associated with the global pandemic and general turbulence in the financial markets lead to research interest in the sustainability and development prospects of Russian pharmaceutical companies. The specifics of the economic activity of pharmaceutical companies are that their products contribute to improving the life quality of the human capital in each country and, as a result, the sustainable economic development of the national economy as a whole. In these conditions, it is important for investors to focus not only on the motivation for maximum profit, but also on the social orientation of their activities, in order to solve the contradiction between high costs and the planned level of profitability for manufacturing companies, on the one hand, and affordable pricing for the end consumer, on the other hand. At the same time, the financial and economic stability of pharmaceutical companies, despite the low price elasticity of demand, which in market conditions usually leads to an increase in the profitability of companies, depends on a combination of constraining factors. These factors include, first of all, high entry barriers to the industry associated with strict requirements for product quality and certification of economic activities by state institutions, large amounts of investment and a long payback period for projects, economic and financial risks, features of logistics chains, and technological challenges. Therefore, the study of these factors is clearly relevant for the entire Russian pharmaceutical industry, focused on competitive self-sufficiency, as well as for individual companies and potential investors. In order to fix new trends in business financing, the structure of the financial and economic activity plan of a medical company operating in the pharmaceutical industry was analyzed, and recommendations were given to improve financial planning in such companies, taking into account the changing needs of the market and a stable financing model. The purpose of the research is to identify the most significant determinants that determine the financial and economic stability of pharmaceutical companies, as well as their prospects for development at the micro and macro levels. To achieve this goal, we used General scientific methods of scientific analysis, including a systematic approach, methods of analogy and statistical analysis, a case method for identifying factors and ways to assess financial and economic stability on the example of specific companies, including the possibility of using integral indicators.
