Background: This study will be conducted to find out the significance of oligohydramnios in determining the neonatal outcome in pregnant women with oligohydramnios
Objectives
1) To study the effect of oligohydramnios on birth weight and gestation
2) To study the effect of oligohydramnios on APGAR score
3) To assess the effect of oligohydramnios on the other neonatal disorders
Methodology: A prospective study will be conducted over a period of 2 years in pregnancies with Oligohydramnios (Amniotic fluid index less than 5cms diagnosed on an ultra-sound) admitted in Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital, Wardha. After obtaining an informed written consent, a detailed obstetric history will be taken. Amniotic fluid index will be obtained from ultra sound scanning. Severity of oligohydramnios would be determined based on AFI. Parameters noted will be Meconium stained amniotic fluid, mode of delivery, birth weight, APGAR score at 1-min and 5-min, History and Investigations of the mother, Neonatal history and examination, Neonatal outcome till the stay of the mother and child in the hospital would be entered in a predesigned and pre validated proforma. Data will be collected and will be entered in an excel sheet. Appropriate statistical tests would be applied to the data and the results will be obtained with special emphasis on neonatal outcome.
Result: Neonatal outcome in pregnancies with oligohydramnios, study will help in analysing mortality and morbidity in neonates born to mothers with oligohydromnios.
