Abstract:
|
Background: Fiberoptic bronchoscopy is an important diagnostic modality utilised in the diagnosis of respiratory pathologies. It allows inspection for endobronchial pathologies, using biopsy and brushing, recovery of alveolar secretions, in diagnosis of infections/non-infectious, foreign body and neoplastic causes. With this in view, the present study will be undertaken to assess the utility of FOB for various lung conditions like cancer, tuberculosis, and other non-tubercular infections.
Objectives: To study the role of FOB in lung conditions like, non resolving/slowly resolving pneumonia and Early diagnosis of lung cancer, diagnosis of sputum negative PTB and in studying the characteristics of association of TB and lung malignancy.
Methodology: Observational study would be conducted at AVBRH located in central rural India in 50 participants between August 2018 to 31 August 2020 undergoing fibreoptic bronchoscopy for diagnostic/therapeutic indications and the findings will be documented in a pre-designed proforma
Results: The findings obtained during the course of the study would be analysed using SPSS software version 25 by a statistician
