Background: Hysterectomy is the gynaecologist second most common procedure second to caesarean delivery. The area of indication has widened its parameters. The uterus can be removed using a variety of techniques or routes including abdomen, vagina or laparoscopic.
Objectives: To study blood loss & the duration of surgery, intra operative complications &post-operative pain in Nondescent vaginal hysterectomy (NDVH) & Laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) . To compare the duration of surgery, blood loss & complications during surgery & postoperative pain in Nondescent vaginal hysterectomy & laparoscopic vaginal hysterectomy. To evaluate post-operative hospital, stay in Nondescent Vaginal Hysterectomy & Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy.
Methodology: This Is A Prospective Observational Comparitive Study Comprising Of 110 Cases, The Study Will Be Performed For 2 Years (2018-2020), At the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, AVBRH Hospital, DMIMS, Wardha.
Results: Both routes have their own pros & cons. LAVH is better in Endometriosis, chronic pelvic disease where there was difficulty to remove the uterus vaginally due to adhesions.
Conclusion: The study concludes that NDVH is associated with less handling of intestines, less exposure to general anaesthesia, no need of any specialized instruments as compared to LAVH. On the other hand, LAVH is associated with small scar of surgery, less morbidity & less post op pain, LAVH can be better route of surgery in obese patients in whom NDVH may be difficult.
