Background: preoperative serum albumin is an important factor in predicting post-operative outcome in major abdominal surgery.
Objectives: To study effect of preoperative level of serum albumin, diabetic status, sepsis status and its effect on post-operative outcome, to compare the effect of preoperative correction of Serum proteins, Diabetes Mellitus and Sepsis to post-operative correction and post-operative outcome.
Methodology: this prospective study is going to be conducted in Acharya Vinobha Bhave Hospital, Wardha, located in central India over a period of 2 years and 100 patients will be included in the study.
Results: The findings obtained during the course of the study would be analysed using SPSS software version 25 by the statistician.
Conclusion: Serum albumin concentration is a better predictor of surgical outcomes than many other preoperative patient characteristics. It is a relatively low-cost test that should be used more frequently as a prognostic tool to detect malnutrition and risk of adverse surgical outcomes, particularly in populations in whom comorbid conditions are relatively frequent.
