Background: Nano hybrid and micro hybrid composite are used in the anterior tooth fracture cases and the aesthetic results depend on the marginal adaptation and marginal discoloration.
Material and Methods: 48 subjects with anterior fracture, will be randomly divided into two groups. One group will consist of 24 subjects. Composite restorations will be placed in all the subjects in the maxillary anterior teeth. nano hybrid resin composite (Filtek Z250× TTM ) will be placed in one group and micro hybrid resin composite (Filtek Z100TM ) will be placed in another. Marginal discoloration and adaptation will be evaluated suing the USPHS scale.
Result: Evaluation of all the fillings will be done at the base, three months, six months and one year. Modified USPHS criteria will be used by two independent examiners for evaluation. If disagreement about the rating are observed, examiners will settle to agree on an acceptable score. Examiners will not be given information about the type of resin used for restoration. The data will be collected and analysed using SPSS version 21. Chi square test of proportion will be used for analysis of categorical data. Survival analysis will be done for marginal discoloration and adaptation.
Conclusion: Nano hyrid composite resin will be give better marginal adaptation and marginal discoloration due to enhanced physical properties. If proved better, the nano hybrid composite can be used by the general practitioners in regular clinical practice to get better durability.
