Clinical evaluation and comparison of effectiveness of Three Different Endodontic Irrigation systems for Irrigant Delivery to working length of single rooted Teeth using Radiopaque dye – an interventional study

Author: KAJOL RELAN, MANOJ CHANDAK, S.S. CHAUDHARI
Abstract: Background: Biomechanical preparation of canal reduces microbial content of the canal to a great extent, however root canal anatomy provides areas in which bacteria can persists and flourish. . Irrigants not only are important for the removal of debris and dentin chips produced during shaping and cleaning, but also are of critical importance in eradicating the intraradicular microbial infection. Recently numerous irrigation methods and devices are in use. This is to increase efficacy of cleansing of root canal such as endodontic irrigation needle and syringe, Navitipfx, Passive ultrasonic irrigation with tips, Endoactivator system, Endovac system. Materials and Methods A total of 81 subjects will be selected and divided into 3 groups of 27 subjects each. Group I : Passive ultrasonic irrigation with Aceteon endodontic ultrasonic tips. Group II :Endoactivator System Group III :Endovac system. After final irrigation, 1ml Radiopaque dye (Omnipaque) will be injected inside root canal. With dye within root canal, digital RVG will be taken. After that Working length radiograph and post dye irrigated radiograph will be compared by a calibrated blinded observer who will measure distance between working length and maximum irrigant penetration. Result: Endovac system and PUI are expected to give better results than Endoactivator in irrigating the root canals. Conclusion: Endovac system proves to be a better irrigation system in apical part cleaning of the canal compared to other irrigation systems during Root canal treatment.
