Background: Allergic Rhinitis is defined as a condition characterized by a combination of symptoms like Nasal block, sneezing episodes and nasal discharge. Allergic rhinitis is due to IgE mediated inflammation. Being highly prevalent disease. Allergic rhinitis affects around 10-25% of population worldwide, and leads the list of allergic diseases, constituting about 55% of all allergies. The allergic diseases like allergic rhinitis, asthma. As the region of the study is highly prevalent in allergic rhinitis and com the study is undertaken. This is probably first such study in rural setting of Central India, which will attempt to find out the triggers or Allergens common in this region, the severity of the disease and the patient factors, associated with allergic rhinitis. This will help in understanding the pathophysiology of the disease with secondary objective of long–term decrease in otitis media and asthma, as a comorbidity and improved hearing outcomes.
Objectives: To study the triggers, different patterns, severity of allergic rhinitis and the disease characteristics with participant characteristics.’
Methodology: The participants will be subjected to a detailed history and meticulous local and systemic and clinical examination. We plan to study a sample size of 90 patients. investigations will be done like skin prick test , blood investigations, Diagnostic Nasal Endoscopy for comorbidities like chronic sinusitis, adenoid hypertrophy, Eustachian Tube Dysfunction by noting the findings of pharyngeal openings of Eustachian tube and associated findings like Deviated Nasal Septum will be noted . In Ear Pure Tone Audiometry and if indicated Impedance audiometry will be done.
Expected Results and Conclusion: The allergens common to specific areas will be identified. The correlation of participants with disease characteristics will be identified.
