Comparative Study of Ropivacaine and Bupivacaine DR. N V KANSE

Author: DR. V
Abstract: A prospective randomized controlled study was performed involving 60 patients from ASA grade I & II who undertook elective lower abdominal and lower extremity operations. They were split in randomly into two classes of 30 each. Group B earned 15ml bupivacaine of 0.5 per cent, and Group R earned 15ml ropivacaine of 0.75 percent. All patients were pre-medicated and 500 ml of ringer lactate was performed preloading. Motor blockade characteristics such as motor block onset, duration and degree of motor blockade were studied. Hemodynamic parameters such as heart rate, NIBP, and SpO2 were tracked at regular intervals before surgery was finished. The occurrence has been reported of side effects such as hypotension, bradycardia.
