This study was performed for a brief severe appendicitis treatment in 100 patients for acute appendicitis. USG and Alvarado score findings were applied in the preliminary diagnosis, which was confirmed by intra operative and histopathological findings. It was observed that ninety eight patients had migratory RIF pain. General symptoms included nausea & vomiting, rebound tenderness, and leucocytosis were seen in 57, 53 and 41 patients respectively. Only 26 patients had elevated temperature. 64 patients had shift of neutrophils to left. Forty nine patients had a score of >7 out of which 47 had appendicitis and 2 were normal on histopathological examination with a sensitivity of 95.92%. Thirty four patients had a score of 5-6 out of which 32 had appendicitis and 2 were normal with a sensitivity of 94.12%. Seventeen patients had a score of <4 out of which 15 had appendicitis and 2 were found to be normal, with a sensitivity of 88.24%. According to the findings from our study it is concluded that USG and Alvarado score, considered in the prognosis of the acute appendicitis have a good statistical correlation.
