Biological Activities of Isatin Thiosemicarbazone Derivatives and their Metal Complexes: A Review of Past Three Decades (1991-2020)

Author: KUSHAL NATH, SHAMBADITYA GOSWAMI
Abstract: Isatin is an important lead nucleus for the versatile organic synthesis and heterocyclic chemistry. Thiosemicarbazone is an analogue of semicarbazone and possessing important biological activities. The current work is an effort to summaries the biological activities of isatin thiosemicarbazone derivatives of metal ions from 1991 to 2020. These three decades survey is very useful to the chemists working on biological activities of isatin thiosemicarbazone and their metal complexes. In this article the authors summarized the structural information of isatin and thiosemicarbazone first and then reviewed the biological activities such as anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti viral, anti cancer, anti tumor, anti-HIV, anti microbial of their metal complexes. The mechanism at molecular level should be the future interest for the researchers.
Keyword: Isatin, thiosemicarbazone, metal complexes, biological activities
