Prevalence of hepatitis virus B and C in patients in Al Najaf Governorate, Iraq

Abstract: Background: Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver cells and damage to the liver. There are different types and causes (like bacteria, viruses, parasites, Autoimmune disease, alcohol and others), but the symptoms can be similar. Materials and Methods: Blood samples were taken from 482 different areas of Najaf province, Iraq (Alnajaf city, Alkufa district, Alabbasiya district Almishkhab district and Almanathira district) for ages from 1 to 80 years (males and females) to the period from 1/1/2019 to 1/10/2019. Results: Out of 482 different patients by physical examination infected with hepatitis: hepatitis viruses were the most incidences with 195 isolates (41%) while, there were 292 isolates (60%) were belonged to other infections. Conclusion:The higher prevalence of HBV and HCV was in Alnajaf city in male with age groups between 21-60 years old, this rate of incidence is in increasly and it is make a concern to health sector.
