Implementation of low cost Automated Wheelchair with Healthcare Monitoring System using IoT and ML

Author: R. KAYALVIZHI, RACHIT SRIVASTAVA, SAHAJ JAISWAL
Abstract: This paper is to provide smooth movement to paralyzed, old and physically impaired people and also the model is integrated with healthcare monitoring unit which helps in predicting disease such as heart disease, viral fever/ malaria, jaundice, food poisoning. In order to provide aid to these people, robotic and healthcare technologies have been used to design a prototype of Automated Wheelchair with Healthcare Monitoring System (AWHMS).The idea is to combine Cloud Computing, IOT and Machine Learning to use the concept of Electromyography (EMG), DS18b20 thermometer and pulse sensor.Android App acts as a central host which integrates the entire system. Spring boot framework is used to provide backend support to the app and OkHttp framework is used to make network requests on android. There are four inputs where IP address of Motor MCU (micro-controller unit), Sensor MCU, Controller MCU and Cloud have to be entered. Based on the user’s input controls can be switched. The user has to select his symptoms and based on the inputs received from the user the proposed Machine Learning Disease Predictor (MLDP) will predict the disease. This is ought to provide relief to people. The different controlling mechanisms will allow the chair to move with less human intervention. This project will be useful for future research works and will change the life of entire humankind.
