Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples were collected from infants patients suspected with meningitis infection residents in two hospitals from different provinces in Iraq. 183 samples were collected from Central Pediatrics Teaching Hospital in Baghdad, and 196 samples gathered from Shoresh hospital in Sulaimaniyha. All samples were examined for bacterial infections by using biochemical conventional methods. 5 different bacterial isolates were obtained from five infants of the total samples that represented Baghdad province hospital, while 8 isolates obtained from eight infants of the total samples represented Sulaimaniyha hospital. All 13 isolates were identified by using VITEK2, the results of Baghdad hospital were Haemophilus influenzae, 2 species of Streptococcus pneumonia, and the other two were Staphylococcus aureus. On the other hand the bacterial species which represented Sulaimaniyha province hospital were Escherichia coli (counted 4), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (counted 3), and one was Enterobacter sp. Antibiotics sensitivity test was done to all identified species which showed a variability in their sensitivity and resistance towards different antibiotics.
