Pelvic fractures are relatively uncommon injuries and its prevalence being around 20-37 out of 1,00,000 population. However their significance increases in polytrauma injuries accounting to nearly 20 percent. Our study includes 24 patients with unstable pelvic fractures (male-15, female-9) from May 2016 to December 2018 and were subjected to classification based on the Young and Burgess classification system. Preoperatively the Injury Severity scoring system (ISS) was used to assess the severity of the injury. Radiological evaluation and ATLS principles were followed prior to surgery. Some patients underwent primary open fixations and others, stabilization with an Ex-fix followed by internal fixations. Post-operative follow up for a minimum of 1 year was done. Patients were functionally assessed using the Majeed Functional scoring system. Patient results were then compared with that of the literature. We were able to find out that patients with early stabilization and fixations had better functional and radiological outcomes.
