Abstract:

Introduction: Internal evaluation is an optimal process in which people working in the organization review and analyzes the organization and identifies the deficiencies. As the internal evaluation of medical education development center of Yasuj University of Medical Sciences has not been carried out according to new standards and functions, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the internal evaluation of this center in order to reduce costs.
Materials and Methods: This study is an institutional internal evaluation study. The self-evaluation process was such that the evaluation workgroup was first formed. Then, according to the national accreditation standard of education development Center of medical education, a self-assessment questionnaire was designed based on the SWOT model. Questionnaires were completed at each focus group meeting according to each standard area. Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats were also extracted from other functions of the medical education development Center, and the draft self-evaluation reports were finalized in the Working Group.
Results: A total of 203 strengths (51 items), weaknesses (86 items), opportunities (40 items), and threats (26 items) were identified based on SWOT results. Most of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats are in the area of management, structure and resources of the center.
Conclusion: There is a need for fundamental reform in the area of management, structure and resources of the center. Based on the results of this study, it is suggested that the operational and strategic plan of the center be designed and developed.
