Diabetes mellitus is a common endocrine disease. It impairs glucose homeostasis.Rosiglitazone (RSG) is an
efficient hypoglycemic remedy. It enhances insulin sensitivity. There a conflict regarding safety of this drug. This
work was designed to solve this conflict.Fasting blood sugar were significantly dropped down in all studied
groups as compared to diabetic group. All groups showed significant decrement in serum level of insulin as
compared to normal control. There was significant increment in the level of serum urea level in diabetic rats.
This level was signi?cantly decrease in those diabetic rats treated with RGS in a dose of 0.1 & 0.2 mg.
Histological examination of the pancreas from diabetic rat’sshowing necrosis of both exocrine and endocrine
pasts with lymphocytic infiltrations and vascular congestion, this in comparison with essentially normal
histolologic appearance of the pancreas in all other groups. The study highlights the effectiveness of RGS in
controlling blood sugar as well its protective effect on pancreas.
