Background and aim: Given that little research has been done on this subject in children so far, the researcher intended to study this, so the aim of this study was determination The best evidence for clinical decisions to minimize the risks and severity of root resorption with associated orthodontic tooth movement in children: A Systematic Review and meta-analysis.
Method: MEDLINE, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, ISI, google scholar were used as electronic databases to perform a systematic literature until 2019. A commercially available software program (Endnote X9) was used for electronic title management. Searches were performed with keywords, “external apical root resorption”, “root erosion”,” root blunting”,” tooth-root resorption”, “inflammatory root resorption” “ORTHODONTIC” , “ROOT RESORPTION.
Result: A total of 70 potentially relevant titles and abstracts were found during the electronic and manual search. Finally, a total of ten publications fulfilled the inclusion criteria required for this systematic review. A statistically significant trend of linear increase in the volume of the RR craters was observed from control to light (2 times increased) to heavy (4 times increased) groups. RR from extrusive force was not significantly different from the control group
Conclusion: Heavy force application produced significantly more OIIRR than light force application or control.
