Epilepsy is one of the most severe and debilitating neurological conditions. This article discusses the medical aspects of seizures and epilepsy in order to provide neuroscientists with an introduction to topics that may be useful for scientific research. Defining epilepsy and seizure, addressing various medical syndromes, updating diagnostic procedures, and considering aspects of differential diagnosis, treatment and prognosis to allow neuroscientists to formulate basic and translational research questions. Fast dissolving tablets emerge as one of the popular and widely accepted dosage forms for epilepsy. Fast dissolving tablet formulations contain superdisintegrants to enhance the disintegration rate of a tablet in the buccal cavity.
