Ethanobotanical study of Subhartipuram, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. II. Diversity and Pharmacological Significance of Shrubs and Climbers

Abstract:

The phytodiversity along with their family, scientific and vernacular names, habit, availability, and pharmacological significance is worked out during present investigation in the Subhartipuram, district Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. This is unexplored site of investigation in this type of research work, therefore it unique and foremost study conducted at the education organization on campus showing the evergreen, eco-friendly campus with hub of medicinally significant phytodiversity known so far. The total 56 plants’ species belonging to 49 genera of diverse systematic groups (29 families) have been noticed from the site of investigation during survey (2016-2017). Among all 29 families; 10 families (Apocynaceae, Asparagaceae, Arecaceae, Bignoniaceae, Cactaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Moraceae, Rubiaceae, Rutaceae and Amaryllidaceae) were found to be most common, and diversified in genera and species richness. The most of the floral biota recorded during study are used by the society and pharmacologists for medical value during the cure of various diseases like bronchitis, respiratory problems, cardiac, hepatic and gastric disorders, mall-nutrition problems, haemoglobin deficiency, local burning and oedema, neural complaints, fever, cancer and many more other diseases to be known in Ayurveda and Unanipathy. Hence, an apposite understanding of available phytodiversity and its conservation could play important role in planning and sustainable use of available natural resources for mankind, health and economy.
