Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT), more commonly known as prediabetes, is a condition in which
glucose levels of the blood are raised beyond the normal values, but cannot be diagnosed as diabetes
.This is a common malady affecting millions across the globe, irrespective of age or ethnicity. However,
some ethnic groups such as South Asians, including Indians, have been proven to be more susceptible to
IGT. The Aims and Objectives of this study are: 1. To evaluate the effect of lifestyle interventions in prediabetic patients 2. To assess the benefit of consuming diet by dietary modifications with low glycemic
index in patients suffering from prediabetes. 3. To observe the benefit of physical activity in patients
suffering from prediabetes. Methodology: This study aims at observing the blood sugar levels in a sample
group of 150 patients suffering from pre-diabetes. This study aims at evaluating the correlation between
lifestyle changes and risk of developing diabetes in a sample group. Non-pharmacological treatment of
prediabetes on the basis of controlled diet and increased activity is used to devise an efficient and costeffective method of dealing with impaired glucose tolerance. Regulating blood glucose levels with lifestyle
interventions would also arrest the development of prediabetes to its Diabetes Mellitus
