A study of Infections Among Rural Women: Association of socio demographic factors with dyspareunia and abdominal pain

Abstract: Reproductive tract infections are endemic among the developing countries and common among females specifically in the reproductive age group. The sequalae of this lead to infertility .The main reason behind the high prevalence was found to be the lack of awareness about the disease and the stigma towards the disease. Significant association was found on analyses with p-value 0.014. Based on the educational status, the symptom was high among the females, who completed their higher secondary level of education with 29.2% .. Females with primary level of education and illiterates have equal percentage of dyspareunia with 6.3% each. Significant association was noted with p-value 0.000. Among 42 females, 31.3% belong to upper lower class. Dyspareunia among upper middle and lower socio economic status were 22.9% each and 20.8% in the lower middle class, whereas the low percentage was found among the upper class females with 2.1% .On analysis, association was found to be significant and the pvalue was 0.003. On comparing dyspareunia with religion, it was noticed that majority of them belong to hindu with 72.9% followed by christian and muslim with 16.7%, 10.4% respectively. While analyzing no significant association was noticed (p-value 0.812). This work focuses in comparing the marital status with this symptom females living with spouse have high percent of 95.8% but no significant association was noted (p-value 0.568).
