A Study to know the Prevalence of Regional Osteoporosis in Patients based on the Association of Spine with Diabetes

Author: G. GANAVI, A.M. KAVIN AMUTHAN
Abstract: Asymptomatic nature of osteoporosis in its early stages makes it one of the most under diagnosed clinical conditions and a significant proportion of patients directly present with fragility fractures. Even though the factors leading to osteoporosis are well understood, there is no clarity on exact average at onset, the speed of progression and factors affecting it. Hence there are no consensus guidelines on appropriate age at which the screening has to be performed. With general increasing standards of life and advancements in medical sciences, there is a substantial increase in life expectancy globally, more so in developing countries like India. This research work proposes association of spine with diabetes of study to know the prevalence of regional osteoporosis in patients.
