The clinical consequences of the osteoporosis induced fragility fractures can be enormous. Apart from leading
to temporary or permanent physical disability, they put the person and family involved under huge
psychological stress. The direct economic consequences due health care costs and the indirect economic
consequences due to loss of wage and caregiver time can be a huge financial burden on the family. The huge
physical, psychological and economic burden due to osteoporosis at personal, family and community level
warrants effective interventions to prevent and manage osteoporosis to minimize this burden. Considering the
clinical implications of an early diagnosis of regional osteoporosis and resulting positive impact on prevention
of osteoporotic fractures, there is an urgent need to conduct studies on the subject. These studies may
enhance the knowledge on the subject and may pave the way for planning and conduction of large-scale
prospective studies and interventions studies, by documenting the burden and risk factors associated with
regional osteoporosis. Hence the present study was planned with the following objectives. This research work
proposes association of femoral neck with diabetes of study to know the prevalence of regional osteoporosis
in patients.
