Regional osteoporosis is usually caused by conditions which are different from the generalized osteoporosis.
These include osteoporosis in specified body sites due to disuse there are specific disease conditions like
Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (Sudeck’s atrophy), Transient osteoporosis of the hip and Periarticular
osteoporosis associated with arthritis are some of the important causes for regional osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis of the selected regions of the body, which is termed as local osteoporosis or site-specific
osteoporosis is another phenomenon attracting the attention of the researchers in recent times. There is no
standard definition exists for this entity, but many studies have used multiple terms loosely meaning
osteoporosis involving only specific regions of the body, with good bone mineral density in other bones. Some
of them have suggested it may he beginning of subsequent generalized osteoporosis which may be able to
identifying the high risk people early in their course of illness. But there are hardly any studies conducted on
the subject in the Indian population. This research work proposes descriptive analysis of spine bone density in
study to know the prevalence of regional osteoporosis in p
